Shaunasea Brown is a PhD candidate in the Humanities program at York University. Her current research collaborates with artists from Toronto to delineate second-generation experiences of Black Caribbean Canadian women. As a musician who sings and plays the piano and guitar, future projects will explore how sound can be used to (re)articulate Black life in ways that refuse the anti-Black logics facilitating disproportionate rates of Black death worldwide. Her current playlist includes artists, such as, Chronixx, Bob Marley, Shenseea, Koffee and Mustafa.
